On 5/06/2015 The Covert Township Fire Department conducted our monthly training. We were joined by members of the Bangor Community Fire Department at an acquired structure. Crews drilled on initial fire attack, communications, command, and water supply. Some of the pictures you see are a view through our TIC (thermal Imaging Camera). This tool allows firefighters to see objects in complete darkness, in smoke filled environments and high heat conditions. The TIC is used to help locate victims that may be inside of a house fire much faster then searching by hand, although we still search by hand as a secondary method. The TIC is also used to locate "hot spots" that fire crews will put out before declaring the fire out.
